Nutritional Oils and The Groovy Food Company

The Groovy Food Company recently sent me a couple of their new oils to test out.  This is a company which was started by a gal named Rosie who suffered for years with various aches and pains and a general feeling of lethargy.  She started taking a seed oil and realized after a time that she felt much better, looked better and had more get up and go!  She thought to herself, if just one seed oil could  have such a positive impact on her life, so much, how much more would it be improved if she was to blend lots to create an oil rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9? It worked, and  The Groovy Food Company was born. Today there’s a whole range of oils and cereals and other foods that you can treat yourself to.

The first oil I was sent was the Omega High Five Cooking Oil, a blend of five tasty virgin cold pressed oils, rich in omega 3, 6 & 9, consisting of Camelina, avocado, virgin olive, high oleic sunflower and toasted sesame oils.  This is a naturally nitritious cooking oil, which keeps it's flavour and goodness, even at high temperatures.  I've been using it for about 2 weeks now in salads, rice, vegetable and meat dishes, stir fries, sauteeing and generally using it as an all purpose oil, with great results.  I find the flavour very pleasant without overtaking the flavour of whatever it is I am cooking or tossing it with.  I even used it one day  in a carrot loaf and it was fabulous.  If anything I liked the end result better than when I make this loaf with ordinary sunflower oil.  There is a tiny hint of sesame flavour in it, which is quite, quite acceptable.

The other oil I was sent was their Organic Omega Cool Oil, a combination of cold pressed seed oils, consisting ofa mixture of organic flax, hemp, evening primorse and pumpkin seed oil.  This is an oil that is meant to be used cool.  It's great for drizzling on salads, whizzed into smoothies, swirled onto finished soups, as a dip for rustic loaves, or taken as a medicament, 1 TBS a day.  I know Evening Primrose oil has long been recommended for anyone who suffers from arthritic pain.  I found that it has a very pleasnt flavour as well, if not addictive!!  I have been quite enjoying a TBS of it every morning.

They also do a Virgin Coconut Oil, which I wasn't sent to try, but would love to try at some point.

These lovely oils are available at Tesco's and Sainsbury's nationwide, as well as select healthfood retailers.  You can also purchase it online at Free from & Fine Foods . The High Five Omega Cooking Oil sells for about £6.99 for 500ml and the Organic Omega Cool Oil sells for about £8.49 for a 250ml bottle.  They are a bit pricey, but I personally think they are well worth the money spent.  I highly recommend.

Thanks to the Groovy Food Company for affording me this fab opportunity!  (Just what I needed . . . another addiction!!)

  1. Great to have affordable, good for you, yummy oils at mainstream supermarkets - now I just have to come over and pick some up!

  2. good review, I usually stick to groundnut oil when I want a neutral oil, as most vegetable oils are highly processed. I'll give the groovy food company a look.

  3. Thanks for the heads up Miss Marie, I'm always on the hunt for a healthy alternative!!!

    I'll sure check it out...thanks!

Have a blessed and beautiful day sweetie!!! :o)
